The Great Indian Family is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language familycomedy drama film written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. It stars Vicky Kaushal as a Hindu religious man who realises that he is Muslim by birth. Manushi Chhillar, Manoj Pahwa, and Kumud Mishra appear in supporting role.

All About The Great Indian Family
In the film, he steps into the shoes of a young bhajan singer hailing from a traditional Hindu family. This character comes with a twist, instead of indulging in flirtation, he has to fulfill the unusual duty of blessing young girls. The film is a delightful comedy with a subtle social message woven into its narrative.
Interestingly, Vicky disclosed that he had shot for ‘The Great Indian Family’ before working on ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ and ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,’ both of which are also light-hearted projects. These films, including his Yash Raj Films debut, allowed him to explore a lighter and more fun side of acting. The filming of ‘The Great Indian Family’ took place between November 2020 and February 2021, a period coinciding with the lockdown. This unique blend of circumstances added a distinctive flavor to the making of the film.
Vicky Kaushal shared how he initially expected some intense action sequences in the film, especially given writer-director Vijay Krishna Acharya’s background in action-heavy movies like ‘Tashan,’ ‘Dhoom:3,’ and ‘Thugs of Hindostan.’ However, much to his surprise, he discovered that the film was devoid of any ‘thappad’ (slap) scenes, and it dawned on him that ‘The Great Indian Family’ was, in fact, a comedy with a socially relevant message.
Speaking about the positive response he has been getting for the movie, Vicky shared, “I’m thrilled that people are loving the trailer of The Great Indian Family (TGIF) and giving it so much warmth and appreciation. It’s overwhelming and I hope we can bring a smile to the faces of audiences with our slice of life, simple family film.
The Great Indian Family is also stars like Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Yashpal Sharma, Sadiya Siddiqui, Alka Amin, Srishti Dixit, Bhuvan Arora, Aasif Khan, Ashutosh Ujjwal, and Bharti Perwani. Manushi Chhillar has been paired opposite Vicky Kaushal in this film which is set for release on 22 September.
